We are friends and neighbours Sally Wood and Richard Steele and we share a passion for re-use.

Wait… don’t buy new! We rescue neglected vintage furniture and restore it to its full glory – so you can have stylish, high-quality and characterful furniture in your home without contributing to the endless cycle of manufacture and waste. Win-win.

Inherited your grannies drab, dark brown table or bought a chest of drawers which stick? We can give your furniture a new lease of life – contact us for an estimate.

Or are you after something special to complete your home? We stock a limited range of restored vintage pieces, and also have a large number of pieces waiting to be restored. Think of it as an adoption service for neglected furniture. See our current stock here.

“We want to share our appreciation of made objects – seeing them not simply as disposable things but as inanimate beings with an energy and history of their own which should be looked after, appreciated and put to use!”

Our ethos – why buy from us?

By buying pre-loved and restored from us you are reducing the waste, energy and resource consumption involved in manufacturing and contributing to a more sustainable, ethical and eco-conscious circular economy.

Sustainability and re-use are at the core of everything we do. We’re not perfect, but we try wherever we can to make the most ecologically and socially-conscious choices for our business – from our banking and phones to our packaging. We use reclaimed materials wherever we can, and select high-quality and ecologically-friendly products for our restorations. All our packaging and labels are re-used or biodegradable.

“We believe in taking care of things which were made with precious energy, materials and love – in defiance of a thoughtless, throwaway culture which disregards the planet and its people for profit.”

And introducing Squiffy the studio cat…

Squiffy is Sally’s cat, but as Sally lives next door to Richard and Richard lives next door to our workshop and showroom she pretty much thinks she owns the place. She likes rolling around on all our new pieces and nipping bits off plants. She dislikes babies and being locked out of the studio while we’re trying to paint.

“Meow.”
